The Biopsychosocial Approach
Until recently, a traditional healthcare model explored a biomedical approach, treating symptoms independent of one another with the three “A’s”: Antibiotics, Anti-inflammatories and Antidepressants.
For something as complex as pelvic health, this approach is ineffective. Multifaceted, complex conditions require a BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL (BPS) approach to treatment which consists of looking beyond the ‘quick fix’ mentality. The whole body approach incorporates multiple elements including (but not limited to) medication, diet, lifestyle and stress management to improve and promote optimal health. It is important to keep an open mind when seeking treatment for pelvic health, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one individual may not be the most effective treatment approach for you.
The BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL APPROACH includes the following:
- Oral Medications
- Supplements
- Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
- Diet & Lifestyle Changes
- Stretching, Exercise & Meditation
- Self-Care
The purpose of this site is to act as a guide to help you achieve optimal pelvic health through the exploration of the BPS approach.
